How to Measure Your Chastity Cage and Ring Size
A comprehensive guide to measuring yourself for the perfect chastity cage fit. Whether you're new to chastity play or a long-term wearer, correct sizing is essential for comfort, safety, and enjoyment.

Getting the right fit for your chastity device is absolutely critical. A poorly fitted cage can cause discomfort, pain, circulation issues, and will likely make you abandon chastity altogether. But a well-fitted device? You'll barely notice it's there, allowing for comfortable long-term wear that deepens your orgasm control dynamic.
“A correctly fitted chastity cage should feel snug but never painful. If you're experiencing discomfort, the fit is wrong — not the concept.”
Why Correct Sizing Matters
Before diving into measurements, understand what's at stake. An incorrectly sized chastity device can cause:
- •Too large ring: The cage slips down or falls off entirely, defeating the purpose
- •Too small ring: Discomfort, pain, fluid retention, and restricted blood flow
- •Wrong cage length: Either uncomfortable compression or room to grow (which defeats the purpose)
Important Safety Warning
There's a significant difference between “blue balls” (the ache from denied orgasm) and actually having blue testicles. If your testicles turn red, purple, or blue, the ring is too tight. Remove immediately and try a larger size. This is a circulation emergency.
The Four Key Measurements
Every chastity cage requires four measurements to ensure proper fit:
1. Back Ring Internal Diameter
The ring that circles your testicles and penis. This is the most critical measurement.
2. Cage Length
The length of your flaccid penis — the cage should fit snugly with no room to grow.
3. Internal Cage Diameter
The internal width relates to your penis girth — it should fit like a glove.
4. Ball Trap Gap
The space between the cage and back ring where your testicles sit.
How to Measure the Back Ring
The back ring is the most important measurement. A ring that's too small can cut off blood flow or restrict urination. Too large, and the cage will slip around causing friction burns.
What You'll Need:
- A piece of thick, non-stretchy string or cotton piping cord (30cm / 12 inches)
- A fine-tip marker pen
- A flat 30cm / 12 inch ruler (not a flexible tape measure)
The Measuring Process:
Step 1: Initial Wrap
Place the end of the string on top of your penis and wrap it around and under your testicles until it meets at the top again. Loosely make a knot where the material meets.
Step 2: Check the Fit
Test the string — your little finger should only just fit underneath with some tension. If it slides in easily, tighten the knot. If it won't fit at all, loosen it.
Step 3: Wear Test
Leave the string in place for 15-20 minutes. Watch for any discoloration in your genitals (sign of restricted blood flow). Try urinating to ensure no blockage.
Step 4: Mark and Measure
If comfortable after the wear test, mark the string at the knot edge. Place along your ruler to get the circumference measurement.
Step 5: Calculate
Repeat this process at least 3 times at different times of day (morning, midday, evening) due to temperature fluctuations. Average your measurements, then divide by Pi (3.14) to get your ring diameter.
Example Calculation
Measurements: 141mm + 140.5mm + 142mm = 423.5mm
Average: 423.5 ÷ 3 = 141mm circumference
Ring diameter: 141 ÷ 3.14 = 44.9mm
Types of Back Rings
Circular Ring
The most common type. A simple circle — you push your penis and testicles through to put it on. Some have a gap at the top, others don't.
Curved/Oval Ring
Similar to circular but elongated, providing more room at the bottom. More comfortable for some anatomies.
Curved Hinged Ring
Opens out so you can place it under your ball sack then close it shut above. Easier to put on, but some experience pinching at the hinge gap.
How to Measure Cage Length
Important: We've seen countless pictures of cages with a clear gap between the tip of the penis and the end of the cage. This defeats the entire purpose. Your cage should fit snugly with no room to grow.
Honesty is essential here. You need to be completely flaccid — no plumping, stretching, or stimulation. Don't shower (hot or cold) before measuring as this affects size.
The Process:
- 1.Stand upright while completely flaccid
- 2.Place a flat ruler against your pubic bone, lying flat on top of your penis
- 3.Measure from base to tip and write it down
- 4.Subtract 6-12mm (¼ to ½ inch) for a proper snug fit
A properly fitted cage with no space at the end also makes urination easier and cleaner, as your urethra aligns properly with the hole at the cage tip.
Measuring Internal Cage Diameter
This measurement determines how snugly the cage fits around your penis girth. Use the same string method as the back ring:
- 1.While completely flaccid, wrap string around your penis at its thickest point (about halfway up the shaft)
- 2.Mark the string where it meets
- 3.Measure against a ruler to get circumference
- 4.Repeat at different times of day and average the results
- 5.Divide by 3.14 to get your internal diameter
The Gap: Space Between Cage and Ring
The “gap” is where your testicles sit between the cage and back ring. There's a simple formula:
High and Tight Testicles
If your testicles sit close to your body, you need a wider gap.
Low and Loose Testicles
If your testicles hang low with more scrotal skin, you need a smaller gap.
Over time, as your body adjusts to long-term cage wear, your testicles may start to hang lower, requiring a smaller gap. This is normal and part of the adaptation process.
Temperature and Sizing
Your body changes size throughout the day and with temperature:
- •Cold weather: Penis and scrotum tighten — use a larger ring to avoid restriction
- •Warm weather: Natural expansion — you can use a smaller ring comfortably
Some experienced wearers keep multiple ring sizes and swap based on climate or activity level.
Tips for Beginners
- Start larger: If you're between sizes, choose the larger ring. You can always size down later.
- Buy a starter kit: Many come with multiple ring sizes to experiment with.
- Be patient: Don't expect to get the perfect fit on day one. It's a process.
- Listen to your body: Discomfort means something is wrong — never “push through” pain.
